| With all the talk about the remake of the
| |
| | miracle came. In the climax of the movie
|
| H.G. Wells classic "War Of The Worlds",
| |
| | while Gene Barry is frantically running
|
| it may be a good time to revisit the
| |
| | through the streets looking for Sylvia
|
| original movie from the late 50s.Whether
| |
| | Van Buren, played by Ann Robinson, the
|
| you are a fan of the original, or the
| |
| | Martians are pretty much blasting up the
|
| remake, or both, one thing many people
| |
| | city. It's a miracle in itself that
|
| don't realize is that neither movie
| |
| | Barry, playing Dr. Clayton Forrester,
|
| version is really anything like the book.
| |
| | isn't blasted to kingdom come. But
|
| For that experience you would have to
| |
| | somehow he makes his way to the church
|
| listen to the Orson Wells broadcast with
| |
| | where he just happens to find Sylvia.
|
| the Mercury Theater from the 30s. That
| |
| | Just as the Martian war machine
|
| was a rendition that stayed very true to
| |
| | approaches the church and is about to
|
| the book.In all fairness to the movies,
| |
| | blast it into next Tuesday, suddenly
|
| the book version would not have played
| |
| | everything stops. The machines start
|
| very well in theaters. Most of the book
| |
| | dropping, not only all over the city, but
|
| focused on two men simply trying to
| |
| | all over the world.What happened?Good old
|
| survive the attack from Mars. There was
| |
| | mother nature, that's what. It turns out
|
| very little action, outside of the
| |
| | that the Earth's bacteria was too much
|
| scattered radio reports they were
| |
| | for the Martians and they started
|
| receiving about attacks from the Martians
| |
| | dropping like flies. The Earth, at least
|
| all over the world. Watching two men
| |
| | for now, was saved. The movie had some
|
| discuss the fate of the world and what
| |
| | good special effects for 1953 and the
|
| they were going to do probably would not
| |
| | climax was very exciting. But for the
|
| have gone over very big with theater
| |
| | most part a lot of the movie was pretty
|
| audiences. So the original movie focused
| |
| | corny and the overacting at times was
|
| more on the actual attack itself. In the
| |
| | hilarious. But if you were a kid growing
|
| movie, Gene Barry plays the scientist who
| |
| | up during the time, this was a movie that
|
| happens to get caught in the middle of
| |
| | you just loved watching, with all its
|
| all this mayhem, constantly trying to
| |
| | flaws. It should be pointed out that the
|
| warn the military that their weapons were
| |
| | news reporter who was commenting on the
|
| no match for the Martian war machines.
| |
| | events of the day was one of the greatest
|
| Of course the military doesn't listen and
| |
| | TV voices of all time, that of Paul
|
| throws everything at the Martians, to no
| |
| | Frees. He was also the opening narrator.
|
| avail. Finally they drop the atomic bomb
| |
| | Frees did a lot of classic science
|
| on them. Even that did no good
| |
| | fiction during the 50s. Just hearing
|
| whatsoever. The Earth was headed for
| |
| | him, regardless of the part, was worth
|
| certain destruction. Only a miracle
| |
| | the price of admission.
|
| could save our planet.Of course that
| |
